THEMES
One of the most prevalent themes in the story is death and loss. Characters all have something or someone that they lose and much of the story is based on how the characters deal with that loss. The focus is on identifying with the characters and understanding the actions that they take when confronted with loss.
Another theme will revolve around the idea of religion and belief in general. It will seek to understand how belief inform our actions and how we see the world differently from others. One of the main ideas of this is what would people do if there was outright, tangible proof of an afterlife. What if it meant something else than what most people believe it to mean?
The concept of the afterlife in the story, was borne as a creationist myth that also informs much of the main narrative. Religious ideals and motivations are prevalent during times of superstition and the story has many concepts that stem form this view of world.
The term SAMSARA itself comes from the ideology of reincarnation and a Cycle of Life. The idea that there is a never ending cycle of death and rebirth. In the story, that concept is treated as truth. There is a system in place that sends souls somewhere when they die, preparing them for reincarnation. What if that system was broken in some way? What would happen if the cycle was destroyed?
